WEBSITE BANNED BY KHA

Noticed this morning, this website can no longer be reached on the KHA intranet in at least one office in Florida.

Comments:

You all know that KHA is a great company! I am sure you are miffed but certainly need to devote time to looking for a new job instead of using your time to dis the company. I don't think you realize what a difficult decision this has been for the company. No, I am not a higher-up at all, but I do know how compassionate they are. I would be devastated as well, but grow up!

sorry KHA'er...I am not an ex KHA employee...just a friend of several. Just think the way they were treated shows a total lack of class....and maybe you should be worried...if you are not a new hire

If KHA is such a bad company to work for, then why are you so upset over not working their any longer. The individuals that were let go only have themselves to blame. When you are in a market that has slowed, it is every persons responsibility to make themselves better than the person sitting next to them. If you are not meeting your goals or performing to the appropriate level then you can be upset at only yourself.

That's not necessarily true. I worked at KHA for 20 years and am now retired. Office management is VERY political and shows way too much favoritism. If you are not liked by management, you are on the outs and there's not much you can do - even if you are a productive employee. I've seen it first hand where a productive employee was let go because the office practice leader didn't like them and they were let go and a lot of dead wood is still there. I've also seen where some lie on their time sheets, lie on thier reports to make it appear that they are meeting UT or utilization rate.

Wow - 20 years you worked there and hated it? That must have been HORRIBLE! How could you stand it? I bet that retirement money is barely getting you by! Give me a break. I understand those who are upset but you need to take some of the blame people! Why is it always someone else's fault? I do wish you all the best finding a new career but I challenge you to find a place as great as Kimley-Horn.

KHA'er, I didn't see where former kha'er said (s)he hated working at KHA for 20 years. You jumped to that conclusion all by your (uninformed) self. There are some really great people at KHA, of that there is no question. The point is that there is also some work that needs to be done at the management level to maintain the honesty and integrity that KHA sells as part of its corporate culture. Everything former KHA'er says is true, and I said as much to HR during the exit interview. If anything, KHA should be grateful for this discourse, as it gives them great insight into corporate cancer, should they choose to read and pay attention.

KHA'er you read something in that I never said. Not sure where you got that I hated it. It was a great company to work for as a whole. But, I can only speak about when I was there and that was several years ago. I was only commenting about the favoritism shown to some employees. Personal feelings should not be part of a manager's style. Just because someone doesn't like another person is no reason to tell other project managers not to give them work so they can not meet their UT and are subsequently let go. My feeling is people are there to do the best job they can along with having a good attitude. Keeping a job should not be based on whether or not the manager likes you. I will agree with you that in SOME cases, layoffs might have been warrented, but not all. Understand that KHA was very good to me and I'm not bashing KHA corporate, however, not all offices are run the same. Some OPLs are very young and have absolutely no management background or training.

I very much agree that the OPLs do not have management training. I also agree there is a lot of favoritism. Layoffs in my office were made because management believed we were not productive enough, however we did not have the projects to meet UT. I also was told that there was a lack in my quality of work, if this was the case they should have brought it up when they handed out bonuses last year. They had nothing but good things to say till Dec 07 and then took an about turn which leads me to believe that this is a whole load of bologne. My office still does not want to admit that they are low on work, they are firing people left right and center on the pretext of 'quality of work' My question is how were they Ok with the same employees last year who produced the same 'low quality' work?

Also, If quality is all they are complaining about now, how were they Ok with doing sub standard work all of last year? Are they willing to admit to their clients they did s**** work to meet client needs and deadlines? That says a lot about their business practise. Catchy jargons like 'People, Practise, Passion' all look good on paper, implementing it in the true sense is what makes the difference.

They are a great company, but they make their money riding the wave of the good times and slashing employees when times are bad. Just like Black and Veatch. They are a victim of their own success. Their overhead is the highest in the transportation sector and can't survive in hard times when they have to bid competitively on price. My experience with KHA is they are very political. If you don't play the game, kiss a** and mind your own business, you are left on the outside. If you want to have numbers and UT drilled into week after week even though your UT is over 120%, KHA is the place for you.

HR is two faced...especially in CALIFORNIA!

Wow - I can't believe this web site is still going! I would like to see what you all would do if this were YOUR company! Hold on to people until times get better? Stop taking a paycheck because? I HIGHLY doubt that!!! Grow up people! It is not KHA's fault - it is the economy and the republicans that have "ridden the wave"!
